How Writing Feedback Studio Works
A fast, local workspace to paste student essays, suggest corrections, attach targeted feedback, and export clean student reports.
1. Add student writing
Use Editing mode to paste or type student essays. Paste prompt graphics via Add visual prompt, or paste essay images directly into the text area using Ctrl+V (Cmd+V).
2. Mark in Suggesting mode
Switch to Suggesting mode. Teacher additions appear in bold green, and deleted student text stays visible in red strikethrough. Right-click additions to remove them, or right-click deletions to restore original student text.
3. Add targeted comments
Select any phrase in the essay to open the feedback popup. Select a category (Grammar, Vocabulary, Coherence, etc.), choose quick notes or type custom explanations, and paste screenshots if helpful.
4. Score with band descriptors
Click descriptor cells in the matrix below to assign bands. If a student is between bands (e.g. 6.5), select both bands to calculate the midpoint. Check off the specific descriptors that fit the student.
5. Automatic draft saving
Your work is continuously autosaved to your browser. Use Save session to export an editable JSON backup, and Load session to continue on another computer.
6. Export for students
Student HTML: Creates an interactive, clickable HTML report for the student.
Print / PDF: Opens a clean browser print preview with static numbered comment cards and score evidence.
Offline use: Click "Download for offline use" to save a standalone single-file copy of this studio. No server or internet connection is needed.
